How to Apply for a Police Clearance Bd?
Here is 10 steps of police clearance that you need to follow in order to apply for a clearance certificate.
Step 1: Account Registration
- Open Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome browser from your mobile or computer. Then visit the Bangladesh Police Clearance website pcc.police.gov.bd.
- Click on the Registration button from the left side of the website.
- In the Name field, enter your name in English as per your passport – you can write it in Block Letter/Capital Letter.
- Enter your mobile number and national identity card number.
- In the Email box, enter your active email address.
- If you are a foreign citizen or a child, tick the Foreign/Child option on the right side. Then fill in the captcha and continue.
Step 2: Mobile Number Verification
In this step, a code will be given for mobile number verification. Verify your account by sending an SMS from the mobile number you have given. Go to your mobile’s message option> type PCC<space>AV<space>6154 then send to 26969.
Step 3: Police Clearance Application Purpose
- Select the purpose of police clearance
If your account is successfully verified, you will receive an SMS Your account is successfully verified. Return to the home page again.
- Sign in with your mobile number and password.
- Click Apply from the menu above.
- Here you have to select why you need police clearance.
Step 4: Personal Information

Step 5: Address
Emergency Contact Address:
- In this step, enter the Emergency Contact Address and Permanent Contact Address as per your passport.
Current Address
- Police SB Office and Police Thana will investigate your application based on your current address.
- Please enter your current address correctly.
Step 6: Upload The Required Documents:
- In this step, you will need to upload your passport and other required documents such as national identity card, birth registration or ward councilor’s certificate.
- However, mainly, you can upload your passport and national identity card or birth registration.
- Upload a passport size photo of yourself. The size of the photo should be less than 150 kb.
Step 7: Verify and Submit PPC Application
- Now re-check all the information you have given in the online police clearance application form, including spelling. Because if the application is wrong, there is no opportunity to correct it.
- If all the information is correct, tick the Final Submit option and click on the Confirm button. Your application is complete.
Step 8: Police Clearance Challan Payment
- You can pay the police clearance fee online through e-challan. For this, prepare the e-challan by clicking on the online payment.
- Then click on the payment button which will take you to the Sonali Bank’s online payment gateway.
- You can pay invoices from Sonali Bank account, debit or credit card and mobile banking services – bKash, Rocket, Nagad and Tap.
- Once the challan amount is successfully paid, you will receive a message stating that your payment has been successfully completed and a challan number. Be sure to download and save the challan copy. Also, you can keep a screenshot of this page for greater security.
Step 9: Police Clearance Challan Upload
- In this step, you have to provide the details of the paid e-challan and upload the PDF file of the challan. If you pay the challan through Sonali Bank Bill Payment System, you can download and upload the challan immediately. If you pay through e-challan/offline challan at the Treasury Office, you can upload it the next day.
- To upload the challan, go to My Account menu and click on the Upload Challan button. Select Bank Name- SONALI BANK, District- DHAKA, Branch- LOCAL OFFICE BRANCH. Then, enter the challan submission date and challan number (Example- P02747964) and click Check Challan.
- If the name of the submitter is displayed, you will know that the challan has been updated. If the challan is updated, upload the downloaded PDF file of the challan in the Document File option on the right side.
Note: Note that if you submit the challan before 12.00 pm, it will be updated on the server after 2.00 pm on the same day. However, if you submit the challan after 12.00 pm, it will be updated on the server after 2.00 pm on the next day. So, if you submit your challan after 12.00 pm, it will be uploaded to the police clearance website after 2.00 pm on the next day.
Step 10: Save Reference Number
When you submit the application, you will be granted an application reference which you can use for police clearance status check application process or to download the police clearance certificate so don’t forget to note down or save the reference number.
Requirements for Police Clearance Application
To apply online you need:
- Passport with at least 3 months validity.
- The applicant’s current or permanent address, as per the passport, must be under the jurisdiction of one of the metropolitan or district police stations.
- For Bangladeshi citizens residing abroad, a scanned copy of the passport information page attested by the Bangladesh Embassy in the respective country.
- For foreign nationals, a scanned copy of the passport information page certified by a Justice of Peace in their home country.
- Online or offline challan of 500/- (five hundred) taka from any branch of Bangladesh Bank/Sonali Bank with (Police Clearance Challan Code: 1-7301-0001-2681). You can pay the challan online through credit/debit card and bKash.
Police Clearance Application Duration
Police clearance depends on the time taken for the investigation. If there are no discrepancies in your information and there are no pending cases, you will usually receive your police clearance certificate within 7 to 10 working days.
Police Clearance Status Check
To check police clearance status, visit- https://pcc.police.gov.bd and click on the Search menu. Enter the Reference No of the police clearance application and click on the View Certificate button.
Police Clearance Certificate Validity
The validity of a police clearance certificate is 90 days or 30 months. After someone gets a police clearance certificate, he or she has to travel abroad within 3 months.
